Who would be the audience for your media product?

When we did our questionnaire for our audience research, we decided that our media product will have 15+ as the target audience. This was because of the results we got in our questionnaire on what age the people who answered were and what conventions of mystery, crime and thriller genre they enjoyed the most. As a result we found out that 50% of the people who answered enjoyed mystery as the conventions and the other 50% enjoyed suspense conventions from the genres. This meant that the film had to be suitable for people who were able to understand the concept of a mystery and confusing, twisted plots as well as expect the unexpected in a suspenseful film. Our way of showing the results was through making pie charts which was the easiest way to show the results that we received from our target audience. As well as the conventions our target audience, in our questionnaire, we asked if the people answering were 15+. The result to that was, that everyone who answered was 15+, meaning that our media product was appropriate for them to watch.  

The typical target audience for our media product would be someone who is 15+, as well as looks 15+. I chose to take a picture of my fellow classmates to show you who I thought vaguely would be someone who would like our media product. This is a female, 17, who likes to watch thriller films as well as her favorite genre being thrillers and romcoms. She likes the suspense about the thriller films as she enjoys not knowing what will end up happening and likes to be kept in mystery. She likes to listen to music which is a mix of RnB, trap and dance as well as watch reality shows such as Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in which a lot of Drama is involved. In addition she also likes to shop in Zara the most. I believe that she would be quite a suitable audience member for our media product as her favorite genre is thriller itself. I also believe that she would enjoy our media product as she is into reality shows and our product was inspired by a real life story of Fred and Rose West. 




Another person I took a photo of was a male, 16, who enjoys watching thriller films as well as listening to grime and rap music. His favorite TV show is 'Boondock', which is an anime with the genre of action and black comedy. In addition his shopping trips are mainly to JD Sports as well as Topman. This persons favorite genre of films is thriller as he enjoys a sense of mystery and believes that mysteries provide silent music, which he thinks create more suspense in a thriller film. One of his favorite film is 'American Gangster', however this changes the correlation of liking thriller films as 'American Gangster' is a crime related film. This doesn't effect anything as the genre of our media product is partly crime too. On the other hand one of his favorite film is also 'Lord of the rings', which is a high fantasy genre. This shows the contrast between the liking towards a crime/thriller genre film and a fantasy. As well as this, he also enjoys watching documentaries which links in with the idea of our media product again being inspired by a real life story. Following on from that Fred and Rose West also have a documentary that was made about them, which shows that this person may enjoy our product. Overall I believe that this person would not entirely enjoy our media product because of the TV show he likes to watch and the type of genre that it is, which is action and black comedy and the liking towards a fantasy genre film also may not make him suitable for our product. However some aspects of his answers create a confusion to if he would like it or not, as his favorite genre is thriller, he likes watching documentaries and crime films.
